The heart is the center of human life. No wonder if D'Zhana Simmons surprised many people after surviving without a heart organ in his body during the 118 days.

As quoted from the pages of Reuters, for nearly four months, a woman from South Carolina was eking a living on artificial blood pumping machine. The new machine was released after he got a donor and underwent a heart transplant.

Cases that occurred mid-2008 it recorded a new history in the medical world. Previously, children do not survive that long without a heart organ.

Simmons could not hold back the tears every time remembering the event. He feels just terrible regardless of experience. "You would never know that the engine suddenly died," he said. "At that moment, I felt my life fake, like I did not really exist."

He suffered from cardiomyopathy, a condition in which the heart weakens and swells so it loses its function of pumping blood. The only way out is to perform heart transplants.

He was forced to wait until nearly four months to get a suitable donor heart. Previously, he had received a donor kidney, but was forced to be appointed again for failing to adapt to his body.

Without the Right Brain
If Simmons had four months to live without a heart, Cameron Mott, nine years old boy with Rasmussen's syndrome, a life without the right brain for the rest of his life. Mott underwent surgical removal of the right brain to stop seizures that attacked him great every day.

The operation is taken with the level of risk of death and disability are high. Since the beginning doctors have said, if Mott escape from death, will most likely run into a coma and paralyzed on his left side. Therefore, the right brain is the organ of the body controls the left side.

But miraculously, the fears did not happen. After undergoing surgery and physiotherapy, the little girl can run and play, although slightly limping and loss of peripheral vision. He just underwent treatment at the hospital for four weeks.

Trigger Brain Tumor Cell Phone Really?

Recent studies that combine the best data from previous studies showed that the microwave radios in cell phones, or commonly known as mobile (phone), actually proved to increase the risk of brain cancer.

Independent study conducted by educational institutions Apeejay College of Engineering from India also ensures that the risk of active mobile users greater of getting cancer or brain tumors compared to mobile users in general.

"We conclude that long-term mobile phone use is not safe for users," said RB Dubey, one of the researchers, who cited VIVAnews from TG Daily, Thursday, November 18, 2010.

Previously, there have been approximately 11 studies that examine the long-term about the risks of using mobile phones, and all have different results. Earlier this year, the results of the Interphone studies conducted over 10 years revealed that mobile phone users with high usage levels of risk of brain tumor attack.

However, another study led by Professor Lennart Hardell said there was only limited to a substantially increased risk for mobile phone users.

To note, currently, there are other long-term studies are still ongoing in Europe and takes 30 years to make a conclusion.

Indeed Dubey research team has integrated the research data collected Interphones and Hardell. "And, the results are known: long-term mobile phone users can double the risk of developing glioma or acoustic neuroma, a benign tumor involving cells of the myelin sheath around the eighth cranial nerve," he explained. "Then, then the tumor will grow and spread to parts of the brain open."

Unfortunately, the results of this study has not been published by Dubey. Known only to about 15-20 cases of brain tumors found in 100,000 population occurred in the territory of the United States. And, the microwave radiation is not the only cause.

However, most studies did prove that radio signals emitted from cell phones is absorbed up to two inches into the skull of an adult, and certainly more in the skulls of children.

In the United States, researchers have asked the government to take these issues and take immediate steps to revise the standards used for transmitting microwaves.
