SYRACUSE — Two men in their 20s were hospitalized Monday night after they crashed a stolen vehicle while fleeing from police.
Syracuse Police Sgt. Heath Rogers said one man was ejected from the vehicle and was flown to Ogden Regional Medical Center in critical condition. The other was taken by ambulance to McKay-Dee Hospital. It is unclear which man was driving.
The men were spotted by an off-duty police officer as they were leaving through a back door of the Syracuse Walmart with "large electronic items." The officer called in a description of their vehicle, a gold PT Cruiser that was reported stolen from Tremonton.
When police spotted the car nearby and gave chase, the vehicle lost control and rolled near 300 North and 4000 West, Rogers said. Utah Highway Patrol will be working to determine how fast the vehicle was traveling when it crashed.
No bystanders were injured in the accident.
